The death of God’s Son was according to God’s foreknowledge and predetermination. Jews delivering up Jesus to Roman authority did not thwart the divine plan for God’s Anointed One from becoming King and reigning on the promised throne. Apostles of Christ preached that David had foretold that God “would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne” (Acts 2:30). Jesus has been exalted to God’s right hand (2:33; Ephesians 1:20-21).
To Timothy Paul praised the Lord Jesus with these words, “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever.” (I Timothy 1:17). In closing admonishments, Paul reminded the evangelist concerning the ruling Christ – “the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light” (I Timothy 6:15-16). Jesus of Nazareth is now our reigning King.
